Textures of Taliesin
​Acrylic Paintings on Canvas and Paper​
    These Textures of Taliesin paintings are inspired by the magnificent textures found in the boulder-constructed walls of Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's school of architecture in Scottsdale, Arizona. On his numerous visits to Wright's campus, Kleidon photographed hundreds of images of the boulders nestled in the wall construction, discovering colors, textures and compositions no doubt seen by Wright and his students as they selected the rocks  from the surrounding Sonoran Desert. The backgrounds in these paintings, beginning with umber, sienna and gray tones, are brought to vibrant life as Kleidon introduces the richer colors hinted at in these massive boulders.
